These courses have ridiculously high scaling and is your key to a 99+ UAI. The Preliminary Extension 1 course focuses on building a strong fundamental understanding of concepts which will be heavily revisited and expanded on in HSC Extension 1 & 2 courses. We will aim to cover this course well ahead of school schedule, leaving time to touch on HSC content and give our students a headstart for the following year. Teaching styleThe Extension 1 class covers the 2 Unit content, as well as the Extension 1 content, so we move faster than the 2 Unit class. We aim to cover the 2 Unit material ahead of schedule, leaving the latter weeks of each term to focus on more challenging Extension 1 topics. Students build an important grasp of fundamental concepts during their Preliminary year. We focus on giving our students a wide variety of questions to broaden their experiences as early as possible. During class, theory will be covered thoroughly by going through worked examples of challenging questions. The theory booklet will contain all the necessary theory notes, worked examples and helpful tips. Nearing the end of the year, we will delve into exam technique in detail, while assigning practice exams for homework and revision. Homework
Like all the other courses, we provide HSC exam style homework booklets for students to practice at home. Exposure to exam-style questions and exam conditions is the best preparation for the real thing. Questions will range in difficulty, with the bulk of questions being slightly harder than average. There will also be challenging questions (Question 6 standard) which are compulsory for all students to attempt. These will be discussed in class and on the discussion forums. All of our homework questions will be marked and provided with teacher's comments and worked solutions where appropriate. Students are expected to use the discussion forums for homework assistance when they face any difficulty. Sample of student materials Back to courses |
