In the Chemistry course, we will revise the entire Production of Materials module, and cover the entire Acidic Environment module in great detail. Unlike some of our competitor's holiday courses, our classes are small, fun, and most importantly, INTERACTIVE. You will be given plenty of opportunity to ask questions in class.
This course aims to prepare you for your half-yearlies at school. By completely revising what you should have learned in term 4, and learning the second module ahead of your peers at school, this course will give you a much needed competitive advantage against your peers at school.
Remember, in year 12, all assessments count towards determining your rank at school, which makes up for 50% of your final HSC assessment. How well you do relative to your peers at school is a huge determinant to your ATAR (50%). This course therefore aims to help you PREPARE EARLY for your term 1 Chemistry assessments and half-yearlies.
Dates to be announced.
In Part 1, your teacher will revise the entire first module: Production of Materials. Your teacher will go through the main points of the module, focusing especially on the more difficult parts, such as polymerisation processes, ethanol production, molar calculations, biopolymers, electrochemistry calculations and nuclear chemistry.
In the second half of the lesson, your teacher will go over the areas that are likely to appear as a 6-8 mark essay-type question in your exam. For example, discussions of the feasibility of ethanol, comparisons between different battery cell chemistries, and discussions of uses of radioisotopes and their benefits and risks.
Dates to be announced.
In Part 2, your teacher will cover the module: Acidic Environment. Firstly, your teacher will give you an in-depth explanation of how equilibrium systems work, to provide you with a solid foundation for this module. Your teacher will comprehensively cover equilibriums and Le Chatelier's principle, molar and volumetric calculations involving liquids and gases, pH calculations, the nature of acids and bases, and esterification
We will also focus on discussing correct titration cleaning procedure, and how to answer first-hand investigation type exam questions, including how to properly discuss sources of error, safety precautions and reliability issues of first-hand investigations.
Near the end of Part 3, your teacher will also introduce you to the main concepts and harder points of the third module: Chemical Monitoring and Management.

English without Dux College would have been horrific. Daniel has helped me over the past year, to not only develop my knowledge of each module but also develop an appreciation for it. It has been AMAZING! Thank you so much!
