Summer Holiday Course | HSC Mathematics Extension 2

Mathematics Extension 2 summer holiday course Our highly focused Maths Extension 2 course will provide you with a solid skills foundation that will help you succeed in this demanding course. We will cover four Extension 2 topics (listed below) over this 2 Part intensive course.

Our Extension 2 teachers are experts in every aspect of the course, and will give you guidance in terms of the common things to look out for, strategies for difficult questions, and highlight alternatives to traditional (and often tedious) methods taught at schools. Your teacher will not only cover the topics listed below, but also provide you with unique techniques that are extremely helpful in exams, shortcuts in calculation methods and any required proofs, and the mindset needed to tackle the harder questions in Question 7-8.

Unlike our competitor's holiday courses, our classes are small, fun, and most importantly, INTERACTIVE. You will be given plenty of opportunity to ask questions in class.

Aim of the course

This course is to provide you with a solid foundation in the earlier topics of the course that are required for later topics. We will show you in many ways how different topics are linked, in the ways that are commonly expressed in exam questions. Familiarity and practice is central to success in this demanding course, and your teachers will give you guidance on maintaining the correct mindset of a successful Extension 2 student.

More importantly, this course will allow you to learn the topics covere ahead of your peers at school, giving you an important competitive advantage over them in your term 1 topic test(s) and your half-yearly exams.

Remember, in year 12, all assessments count towards determining your rank at school, which makes up for 50% of your final HSC assessment. How well you do relative to your peers at school is a huge determinant to your ATAR (50%). This course therefore aims to help you PREPARE EARLY for your term 1 assessments and half-yearly Mathematics exams!

Topics covered (Ext 2 topics)
  • Complex Numbers
  • Conics
  • Graphs
  • Polynomials

Note that if you require coverage of Extension 1 topics, you should consider enrolling in our Extension 1 summer course as well.

Course structure

Our Mathematics Extension 2 summer course is structured over 2 Parts of 4 hours each.

Over the two Parts, your teacher will cover the topics most likely to come up in term 1 and 2 assessments. Your teacher will be very experienced at giving you all the tips, tricks and shortcuts that can be used to your advantage in Extension 2. These topics are usually taught first, as they provide the necessary foundation for topics studied later in the year. It is highly important that you gain a solid foundation in these topics.

Classes will consist of a detailed and thorough explanation of the theory behind each topic, followed by Worked Examples that progress in difficulty. Our Worked Examples are carefully chosen by our experienced staff to cover the range of HSC exam questions that could be given to you in your exams.

Course materials

Course materials will be provided. Our notes summarise all the theory content of the topics covered, and contain many, many Worked Examples. Our notes are well presented, easy to understand, and designed to expose you to the widest range of maths questions, so you are not caught by surprise in your exams.
