The following terms are applicable to all students enrolled in our Yearly or Holiday courses.
In order for us to help you achieve your best in the HSC, you must abide by the basic guidelines set out below. You must take responsibility for your own learning. If there’s something you don’t understand in class, you should ask questions until you are satisfied that you completely understand. You should try your very best to attend every class, or as many as you can. You also need to understand that homework is highly important, and falling behind on homework is a serious matter. If you don’t complete your homework on a regular basis, you will not be able to reach your potential.
As an organisation, we believe that every dedicated student who is willing to put in the effort for their own good deserves all the help they need to achieve their goals. However if we find you are lagging behind solely because of a lack of effort on your part, we can no longer help you. If you don’t ask questions in class when you obviously don’t understand, not attending classes and not doing your homework, we reserve the right to discontinue our service to you.
Unlike other places, we don’t have an entrance test to determine whether to accept you. The purpose of the trial class is also to allow us to gauge you as a student in terms of your dedication. We only accept students who are dedicated; who are likely to do all of their homework to the best of their ability each week, and attend as many classes as they can. That is our sole criteria in determining whether to accept new students.
Students should understand that we run a tight schedule of classes. If students attend all classes, they would comfortably cover the entire course. Missing a class is obviously detrimental to the student because they may find it difficult to keep up with subsequent classes. Therefore we insist that students make every effort to attend all classes.
If you cannot attend an upcoming class, you must call us at least 24 hours prior to their class, so we can arrange to have class notes mailed out to you. If there is an alternate class time, subject to availability of spaces, we may allow you to join that class. Also subject to tutor availability, we may offer a one-off catchup 1 on 1 lesson with a tutor at a convenient time, at a cost of $50 an hour. Options will be made clear to you on the phone.
No credits or refunds will be given for missed classes.
Homework is an essential part of our learning system. Students need to do their weekly homework to the best of their ability in order to fully understand the content in each week’s lesson.
Attempt all questions – no exceptions. If there are any unattempted questions, you will be asked to redo them. You will also be asked to redo your entire homework if your class teacher finds it is of an unsatisfactory standard.
We understand that you may also have school assessments to prepare for, or there may be other unforseen circumstances preventing you from doing your homework. However in the event that you fail to submit homework on any week, you must instead submit a signed short note from one of your parents briefly explaining why you are unable to submit homework.
Students who submit work that is not entirely theirs will be required to redo their entire homework as well as supplementary work. Their parents will also be informed. If this is not a first occurrence, we reserve the right to discontinue service, and no refund or credit will be given.
At all times during class, students must conduct themselves in a manner conducive to their own learning, as well as the learning of others. If you behave in a disorderly, anti-social or disruptive manner, we reserve the right to remove you from the class immediately and discontinue our service to you without any credit or refund.
Students must not wear hats in class, and mobile phones should be switched off or on silent for the duration of class.
We require the full fee for each course to be paid in full before you begin your first class (after your free trial class). We reserve the right to discontinue our service to you if you have not paid in full.
We reserve the right to revise tuition fees at the beginning of each school term.
If you discontinue tutoring in the middle of a term, we will not offer pro-rata credits or refunds. However you are free to discontinue at the end of each term.
All students must provide us with some basic personal details when they register for their student account. This information is kept confidential by us at all times (read our privacy policy). If any of your details change, you will need to notify us as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to discontinue our service to you if we find you have been deliberately misleading when providing us with your personal details.
In order to secure a spot in the class you want, you will need to register an account, enrol in the class you want and pay your fees in full. Our Enrolment Officer will contact you and confirm your enrolment has been secured once these steps have been done.
As a condition of service, students who complete the HSC with us must notify us of their HSC marks, ATAR and school ranks at the completion of their HSC year. These students must agree to allow us to use their name, HSC marks and ATAR for advertising purposes. Note that all other information will still be kept confidential and the privacy policy still applies.
I have read and understood the terms of service contained herein. I agree to abide by all of the requirements to be a student of Dux College. I promise to attend classes and do homework to the best of my ability. I promise to be on my best behaviour while in class, behaving in a manner that is conducive to my own learning, and the learning of other students.
You are taken to have accepted these terms of service when you pay your fees in full.
